HI GUYS
IS THERE ANYONE WHO KNOWS HOW I WOULD BE ABLE TO REGULATE ONE OF THE 24VDC PDM OUTPUTS?
IVE CONNECTED 24V TRANSDUCERS ONTO ONE PDM OUTPUT( FOR POWER SUPPLY), AND THEN BY USING A 250-OHM RESISTOR WITH THE 4-20MA OUTPUT OF THE TRANSDUCER, MANAGED TO CREATE A 1-5V SCALE(WITH MUCH HELP FROM MARCELL) CONNECTING THEM TO THE ANALOG INPUTS OF THE PDM.
THIS WORKS LIKE A CHARM BY THE WAY , IF U HAVE A REGULATED SWITCHMODE PSU FOR TESTING.
THE PROBLEM COMES WHEN U INSTALL THIS SYSTEM ONTO A VEHICLE, WHERE U DONT HAVE THAT REGULATED PSU ON THE BAT+/- TERMINALS OF THE PDM. INSTALL A FAN OR TWO (OR ANYTHING THAT HAS A SIGNIFICANT START UP CURRENT) ALSO POWERED BY THE PSU AND U'LL EXPERIENCE MAJOR FLUCTUATIONS ON YOUR ANALOG INPUTS.(BECAUSE THEY ARE NOW VOLTAGE DEPENDANT)
THE PDM HAS MORE THAN AMAZED ME IN ITS CAPABILITIES, AND I WOULD GO TO EXTREME LENTHS TO GET THIS SYSTEM RUNNING FLAULESSLY, WITHOUT HAVING TO ADD EXTERNAL REGULATORS OR AN ADITIONAL I/O CARD(XM500)
THE OTHER THING I'M NOT SURE OF IS, HOW TO IMPLEMENT A SAMPLE RATE(IN THE SCRIPT OR SM) OF LETS SAY 10 SECONDS FOR THESE ANALOG INPUTS.(IN ORDER TO GET AN AVARAGE READING OVER 10 SECONDS)
ANY HELP WOULD BE VERY MUCH APRECIATED.
THANX
