Requesting PGN 65255

Post by dberezowski » Thu Jan 31, 2013 10:22 am

Version: 2.3
Platform: PV750
I am trying to use the PGN request functionality and, based on viewing the CAN bus with PCANView, I can not get it working. I suspect it is because there is something I do not have configured correctly.
I started out with making a copy of the PV750 Murphy Standard. I observed PGN 59904 ( Request ) and PGN 60159 transmitting with a period of 500 ms. I then unchecked all the Request check boxes and verified that both PGNs were no longer being transmitted.
On the Database tab, I added PGN 65255 which is "Vehicle Hours". In the parameters mapping area I have set Bytes 1-4 as "Total Vehicle Hours" and Bytes 5-8 as "Total Power Takeoff Hours". I set the Rate to 0, Priority to 6 and checked the Request check box.
I downloaded the configuration and observed that PGN 59904 and PGN 60159 were not being sent, although I expected PGN 59904 to be. I also tried setting the Rate to 500 but that did not work either. What am I missing?

Thanks,
David

It seems I forgot to add parameter J1939.Engine.TotalVehicleHours to the Engine Device of CANPort1 on the Environment Setup tab. It is working now. The period is 1 second, where is that specified?

Thanks,
David
