USB Stick specification

Post by JZanni » Mon Nov 08, 2010 3:13 pm

We noticed that the Display does not seem to find the .tar.GZ file on all USB sticks. We assume that it must be looking for some specific formatting of the stick. Do you have the specification required or any other limitation which may prevent the display from finding the file?

Most USB sticks should work; however, there is a slight potential that some may not work due to various reasons.

In any case, the USB stick should only have a single partition on it and be formatted as FAT32 in Windows. Sometimes reformatting a USB stick in windows as FAT32 will solve the problem.

The unit will not work with USB sticks that advertise "U3" capability as these USB sticks have 2 partitions on them with one of them showing up like a CDROM drive. To use a U3 USB stick, the U3 support must be removed with the U3 utility.

What brand / model of USB stick are you trying to use and cannot? Please let me know if after any of the steps mentioned above, it still does not work. We have used many different USB sticks from SanDisk that have worked properly. Although some of the SanDisk sticks come with U3 support which must be removed first.
