Hey,
I am having an issue where I seem to be unable to connect to the screen over the Ethernet connection. I am using Monoprice USB 2.0 adapter (low power). The adapters appear to work fine connected between two computers but when I use one of them on the screen (PV450) my computer says the network cable is unplugged. Could it be possible that the screen is not providing enough power to the adapter, or I need to have some variety of driver for the screen.
Thanks for your help.
Program Version: 2.7.10290.
Screed Model: PV450.
Operating system: Windows 7 SP1 64bit

Re: Ethernet adapter not working
Hello ADE,
Are you using the Auto-Detect to connect to the PV450? If so, you might see if this post could help. viewtopic.php?f=5&t=868
Sounds as though you have verified that your adapters and cable work ok.
There are step by step procedures and some connection trouble shooting tips in the PowerVision Configuration Studio Core reference manual found here viewtopic.php?f=3&t=932
If you have ordered the USB/ethernet adapters from Enovation Controls, they are known to work. There are Monoprice USB 2.0/Ethernet adapters you can order from other places that do not work. Enovation Controls has changed to a Plugable USB 2.0 adapter that will work with PowerVision 2.6 and newer. The Monoprice and Plugable adapters ordered through Enovation Controls are known to work. The Plugable adapters work considerably better than the Monoprice and have additional features.
If you have the USB/Ethernet adapters from Enovation Controls, we have found most issues to be about the connection setup.
In your post, you mention Program Version. Is this the PowerVision Configuration Studio version? If so, I would recommend getting the latest PowerVision Configuration Studio. The installers are located on this forum and you can get the version appropriate for your company.
Sorry for the inconvenience, I find it reassuring that you have taken the time to rule out the hardware. I've spent a lot of time trouble shooting a connection only to find that my cable wasn't reliable.

Re: Ethernet adapter not working
Hey Stally,
Im having the exact same issue. tried connecting the adaptors between two computers and it works. also they are the monoprice adapters that we purchased with the programming kit.
we purchased two powerview 780's and I've been programming them using direct usb flash drive method. however one of the screens would not boot to the loader for a new configuration. So i went through the troubleshooting steps and eventually used the emergency update. now im stuck at "Please Run "Simple Update" to complete your upgrade".
To the best of my knowledge, i cant do this with just the usb flashdrive??
Sorry to sort of hijack this thread.
Help!?

Re: Ethernet adapter not working
Hello CHWChris,
I would recommend calling the Ennovation Controls Technical Services at 918-317-4100 and ask for Technical Service Support. They can ask questions and walk you through reprogramming the displays and get your connections setup.

Re: Ethernet adapter not working
Hey Sally/Chris,
Just to let you know I swapped Ethernet adapters to a different model and that instantly fixed my issue.
The adapter i was using was this one (doesnt work with the display):
http://www.monoprice.com/Product/?c_id= ... 1&format=2
The adapter I swapped to (and is now working perfectly), is this one:
http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=1 ... 1&format=2
Also I updated to the newest patches of Powervision 2.7, and while it has some nice features, it didnt solve the Ethernet issue.

Re: Ethernet adapter not working
I believe Sara tried to explain it above but to make sure you see it. Monoprice has recently changed the part they delivery and its no longer a chipset that supported by PowerVision Displays. The best way to get working adapters is to order Murphys PowerVision Connection Kit which will always have the latest adapters known to work.
The good news is that the new dongles are much high quality dongles that have lights and a pigtail. The new part in the kit was recommended by us in engineering after using it internally and having much success for the 18 months.
Glad that got you going. If you want to order dongles from a different source, feel free to PM me and I can give you the link where we bought ours from a commercial vendor.

Re: Ethernet adapter not working
Hi everyone.
I would like to post a reply to this message, as I have had my battles with the Ethernet adapters not working.
I am an amateur powervision user. I am using the 2.8 version.
Sometimes I could get my Ethernet adapter working, other times... nothing.. the orange light on the adapter would blink 3 times then it was done.
Well I found out that my VPN client was active and trying to use that connection to make a network connection. I disabled my VPN and viola It worked.
I hope this helps someone.. I have been getting so much info from this forum, I want to start contributing.. so this is my first.
