I must be slow but im having trouble using a discrete input from the PDM to trigger a flashing output on the PDM. (signal light)
can someone throw me a bone. thanks

There is an example PV780 and PDM configuration on the Standard and Example Configurations thread. It has more than what you are asking about, but you should be able to find some ideas about what you need to do.
