I'm having trouble with sending J1939 messages to a PLC, I was told as long as my PGN numbers match everything would work fine but that's not the case. Any insight???

Some details would be helpful...

Do you have a tool that can sniff the CAN? Such as CANCapture or some other tool that can monitor and record the CAN traffic? (I shouldn't mention a competitor's product here )

Can you tell if the problem is with what the PV380 is transmitting or is the PV380 not seeing (receiving) what the PLC is transmitting?

Many times the problem is with the Source Address. If the problem is with what the PV380 is transmitting to the PLC, make sure the PLC is configured to receive messages from the PV380's source address or make sure the PV380 is transmitting with a source address that the PLC will receive.

Are you using the Transmit Device on a CANPort and a "PLC" Device to send and receive? or are you using Free Form Extended Frame or Free Form Standard Frame?

I tried using the transmit device on CANPort and I also tried on free form but wasn,t sure if i set things up correctly. I"m checking now to see if IFM PLC is actually sending the messages .
