PDM/IX3212 Diagnostic bit

Post by Guy » Wed Jul 09, 2014 4:19 am

I have a question on the diagnostic bit from the PDM. I hope it is easily answered.
I have two IX3212 connected to a PV450 running 2.7.10419. I only get diagnostic bit 0 and 3 from the second PDM (0x1F).
If I draw 500 mA or more it goes from 3 to 0, but if I short the channel it trips, but does not change the diagnostic bit. i.e. it remains on 3.
(This does work for the first PDM ( 0x1E) and if this is addressed to 0x20 the same problem occurs.
As I don’t think there is anything in the program that changes the diagnostic bit , I guess it is a bug. I am writing a ‘Fuse monitor’ and need to get the short circuit and over current status.
Please advise
p.s To set the source address, digital inputs 1&2 need to go LOW not high( as advised)

Hi!

We have been looking at the problem you have described and have a few questions to help us get to the root of the issue.

What type of power source are you using? Would you be able to send a CAN log of when the problem occurs?

Thank you!

OK , resolved now. The small power supply was the main cause not coping with the inrush.
.. , but not completely.
Just changing the PDM address causes the problem, so there is an earth loop or similar, when taking the digit input 1 or 2, low for the addressing.
