Re: J1939 to Modbus
Or if you know of a J1939 modem that will be able to communicate over satelite since we dont always have signal everywere were the vehicles are working. I have 8 PV450's that i want to connect up and hopefully you guys can help me with a answer so that the screens can meet our clients needs as they would like to track the vehicles and also see what is going on with the parameters on the vehicle.

Re: J1939 to Modbus
Marcell,
There are also modems that transmit CAN data (from Antx for example www.antx.com) and there are modems that communicate over the globalstar statelite system (http://www.globalstar.com/en/index.php?cid=1310)
To convert J1939 variable to modbus use the modbus setup screen under the environment tab.
If for example the display is a modbus slave do the following in the Environment Setup tab:
1. Setup serial port as a modbus RTU slave
2. In the Local Modbus Slave, click the + button
3. In the pop up select you address for your modbus register and pick your data type (typically holding and unsigned short). Select OK
4. UNCHECK the autocreate check box.
5. Click on the (Not Mapped - Disabled) link
6. Choose a J1939 variable
Now a mobus register is mapped to a j1939 data variable.
