Mag Pickup/Prox Switch for speedometer
We're trying to use a mag pickup to drive the frequency input on a PV780. We believe we're not getting enough energy to drive the display at low speeds; we get no reading until about 4 mph. We found a zero speed Hall Effect sensor that will fit on the transmission. Will the frequency input on the PV780 read a 0.6 to 12vdc square wave signal? If not can one of the analog or digital inputs use that signal to measure a frequency?

Hello hhhenke,
Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately the PV780 does not have an input that will work with a Hall Effect sensor. It does work with a magnetic pickup sensor. You can follow the link at Go To FWMurphy.com above to find a distributor that sells sensors that are compatible with the PV780.

Thanks Sara. What is the minimum voltage that the PV780 needs to read a frequency?

That explains a lot! It looks like the PV780 is doing exactly what you'd expect. Thanks again.
