I am developing an application for the PV350 that communicates with other CAN devices at 500k. I have set CANport 1 to run at 500k and communicates as expected with the other controllers on the CAN link once I disconnect the ECOM which is obviously still running at the 250k baud rate. The next time that I need to program the PV350, I have place the display in boot (power on with buttons 1 and 5 pressed), reconnect the ECOM, update the display with a full install, and disconnect the ECOM to prevent error frames due to the mismatched baud rates. Is this the proper technique?
Thanks,
Dan

Re: ECOM Baud Rate
Hi Dan,
Are you having a problem or just being cautious or curious?
This is a great question! One that could help others if they have monochrome display configurations that need to operate at rates other than 250kbps and suddenly find they can't reprogram from PowerVision.
Your procedures are correct. After you get the config that runs at 500kbps loaded, you will only be able to talk to the field programming kit and PowerVision from the boot loader mode.
The monochrome display programming protocol over CAN operates at 250kbps so once you have changed the CAN port on the display to operate at 500kbps the field programming kit and PowerVision don't have a way to know that the rate is not 250kbps.
It will be more complicated to reprogram from PowerVision.
Hope you don't mind, I'd like to change the subject to be more descriptive so I can find it later.

Hi Sara,
Not really a problem, just an inconvenience. You are certainly welcome to change the subject line.
Thanks,
Dan
