The operator manual Page 4 refers to Murphy part Number 78090048 to connect to the Device directly. This would be very usefull, howerver I do not seem to find any information on this device anywhere. What is it? Is this just a regular network router with USB connections? Where can we get it?

You are able to purchase this from any Murphy location or distributor. Part number 78-09-0048 includes 2 USB to ethernet adapters and a crossover cable. This kit is used to transfer file directly to the PV750 without the need for a USB drive and the two finger reboot. This kit is also required to compile scripts prior to loading on the PV750, if you want to check for errors.

This was also mentioned in another post. Does this implies that the Kit is a must if I need to change a script, ie: it will not compile/create properly if I use the "Create" and export via USB stick, or does this merely means that the "Compile All" will fail because it automatically tried to download once the compilation is complete, and if so, can I assume that the Scripts are OK, if the "Compile All" reach the Download step and reports a failure to connect.
Reciprocally, If I modify a Script then use the Create, does this also automatically trigger the compilation and any Scripting error will be reported during that process as I experience with error or omission I have in my set-up?

Currently, all compilation is done on the display. When you have the direct connect, the Compile All copies the scripts to the device, where compilation takes place and errors are reported back to the configuration tool.

When you do a Create in the config tool, the scripts are loaded into the update.tar.gz file that you can place on a USB stick and update the display out in the field. The Create does NOT compile the script. The script is recompiled when the update.tar.gz is loaded onto the unit.

If there is an error when loading a unit via USB stick, the scripts simply do not run.

In Future releases we will improve on this, but for now the only way to verify the compile works for sure and get a report on the errors is with the direct connection.

Besides this the direct connection makes creating configurations much more efficient because you don't have to use a USB stick to try out a config.

Since the actual compiling is done on the display itself, is there any way to extract the compiled software from the display as a binary file?

We have a tool that we generally use to update software on components in our vehicles over the CAN network and it would be helpful to have the compiled software available rather than the package that can be loaded with a USB. There may be other problems with updating over CAN, but I was hoping to test it out.
