HI GUYS
HOW WOULD I BE ABLE TO USE THE PDM INPUTS AS HIGH SPEED INPUTS?
HAS ANYONE EVER DONE ANYTHING LIKE THIS?
WHEN USING PV CONFIG STUDIO 23.11175 ONLY ONE 10MS TIMER IS ALLOWED, THE REST ARE LIMITED TO 50MS MAX, I NEED TO CONNECT 6 IMPULSE FLOW METERS TO ONE PDM, BUT THEIR MAX PULSE(INTERNAL REED SWITCH) RATE IS AT A 1000Hz.
IS THERE ANY WAY TO USE THE PDM TO READ THESE PULSES AT THAT RATE?
IS 20Hz THE MAXIMUM RATE AT WITCH THE PDM CAN RESPOND ON INPUTS?
AS ALWAYS, ANY HELP OR COMMENT IN THIS REGARD WOULD BE VERY MUCH APRECIATED.

Most people use the PDM digital inputs to identify status of slow changing devices like Overflow Switches, User Input switches, or Valve Position switches. I don't think you can push the PDM to always get each and every pulses at 1000 Hz. We typically use a Frequency Input to count pulses from magnetic pickups (for RPMs) which sounds like what you need.
A sweet deal would be to use the PV380 which has one frequency input ( 2 to 10KHz from 3.6 to 120 VAC) to measure the pulse count, then you would have a Display Output for each of the Flow Meters. They could be connected together with the CAN bus to provide information to a central location.

To be more PDM like you may want to use the Eaton Mobile Controller (I think we build it for Eaton). The Input/Output is extremely flexiable so that you can read all kinds of signals. It is actually a smarter PDM. (The PDM needs to have a controlling display while the Mobile Controller does not). The Mobile Controller comes in several sizes but the 48 input one has 8 frequency counting devices which works like (the PV380) above but better. Here is their web site.
