As seen in our video, “Built to Endure Every Challenge,” our commitment to product quality begins with rigorous testing processes that simulate real-world conditions. We spoke with Mike Norris, our Test Engineering Manager, to uncover how Enovation Controls ensures that every product is ready to perform in the most demanding environments.
Can you share the reasons for conducting tests and what they reveal?
Mike Norris, Test Engineering Manager:
The primary reason for conducting these tests is to identify areas where the design of a new product might be weak. The goal is to push the product to its limits, exposing potential failures under stress methods like extreme temperatures and vibration.
Do you test all products or only certain ones?
Mike:
We test all new development products. If there’s a new product intended for the market, it goes through rigorous testing here first. The video highlights this process, showing how every product is evaluated to ensure it can endure every challenge it might face in the field.
What types of testing equipment and technology are essential, and how do they improve the accuracy of your tests?
Mike:
Our testing processes include advanced thermal chambers featured in the video. These chambers allow us to transition products between extraordinarily high and low temperatures, even adding humidity to simulate real-world conditions like moisture infiltration. We also conduct vibration testing, shaking products at different frequencies to ensure they can withstand the harsh conditions they may encounter.
What role does feedback from the testing phase play in the overall product development process?
Mike:
The testing phase provides critical feedback to our engineering team. Any failures we discover are analyzed to determine whether they reflect real-world conditions. If they do, the design is adjusted, and the product undergoes testing again.
How do you prioritize which products or components need more rigorous testing?
Mike:
We work with two main categories: OEM manufacturing and general market products. For OEM products, brands provide specific standards, and we test accordingly. We have a standard suite of tests for general market products, including exposure to UV radiation, pressure washing, water immersion, and more.
What measures do you take to ensure the safety and compliance of our products with relevant regulations and standards?
Mike:
Safety and compliance are non-negotiable. For example, any European product must carry the CE mark, indicating compliance with stringent safety regulations. Our testing covers everything from fire resistance to heat generation to ensure products meet these standards.
At Enovation Controls, our products are not just built—they are crafted to endure every challenge. The rigorous testing process, detailed here and shown in our video “Built to Endure Every Challenge,” reflects our unwavering commitment to quality, safety, and reliability. Every vibration, temperature shift, and stress test represents a promise to our customers: that no matter the environment, our products will perform when it matters most.
